BroadBand Double Speed

Dear customer now you can apply for PTCL broadband Student package through the following options:

Option 1 & 2: Order registration by submitting form at ‘PTCL OSS/CSCs’ OR emailing the form to ‘ PTCL Contact Center’.

  2. If your institute is registered with PTCL, then please process with the filling of the form. In case your institution / university is not yet registered with PTCL then please request your institute / university administration to do by calling 0800-80800.
  3. After completing the form, press “Submit Your Request” tab.
  4. A link will appear on the top of the page to download the form in PDF format. Please Download the PDF file and have it printed.
  5. This printed form has to be then validated (signed and stamped) by any of the following officials of your institute/ university.

Q No.5 How can I validate the online application form and who is eligible to validate it?

You can validate the printed form from your institute/university. The below officials of your institute/university can validate (Sign and stamp) the form

Q No.6 I have applied for the Broadband Student Package but I have not heard anything from PTCL?

It takes normally seven days for the application to be processed and validated through the concerned officials of the PTCL. There are different reasons for the delay

v     Your application is not validated.

v     Your institute has not confirmed your association with the institute.

v     We are not able to contact your institute.

Once your application is verified PTCL personnel will contact you for the provisioning of the services. For the status of your application please call at 1236. 

Q No.7 What will happen once the application for Broadband Student Package is submitted?

Once application is successfully submitted, we will process you application for verification and once your application is verified you will be intimated accordingly for the provisioning of the services.

Q No.8 Can I avail Broadband WiFi service on Broadband Student Package?

Broadband WiFi service is not available to Student Broadband Customers.

Q13. Do I have to purchase a modem and pay an activation fee?
You will be provided free modem till you use our services. One time installation charges of Rs.500 will be applicable from July 1, 2010.

Q14. Do I need an additional phone line for broadband service?
No. Your PTCL Broadband service will be installed on your existing phone line. This means you can talk on your phone and access the Internet at the same time.

Q15. How will I be billed for PTCL Broadband service?
Your broadband charges will appear as a separate itemized charge on your monthly telephone bill.

Q16. Are there any hidden charges for DSL service?
There are no hidden charges. Package price accounts for internet access per month.

Q17. How is DSL installed?
Our DSL installation team will visit your premises / home to evaluate the condition of your landline and then install/connect DSL modem.

Q18. Is there a time limit on the amount of time I can spend on the internet with Broadband Pakistan?
No, there is no time limit, it is always on! you can be using broadband and voice facility 24/7 at the same time.

Q19. Can I switch to Broadband Pakistan from another DSL service?
Yes. All you need is to provide a letter of cessation to your existing service provider with copy to PTCL. We shall take from there onwards.

Q20. Can I shift the service to another number or location?
Yes, you can request for shifting the broadband service to another number or location just by calling PTCL helpline 0800 80800.

Q21. What if I cannot get DSL right now?=
Additional exchanges are being DSL enabled regularly – contact us at 0800 80800 for information to check for availability of service in your area.

Q22. What affects my connection speed?
When you connect to the Internet using PTCL broadband service the speed that you will experience will vary based on a variety of factors, including the following:
1.         Distance of your telephone line from exchange
2.         Condition of telephone wiring inside and outside your location
3.         Computer configuration
4.         Network or Internet congestion
5.         Server and router speeds of the Web sites you access
Q23. Are PTCL broadband service charges in addition to my current monthly phone bill charges?
Yes. PTCL broadband internet is charged on monthly basis and is for broadband service only, i.e. an addition to your monthly telephone charges.

Q24. What if my phone line goes down, will my DSL still work?
DSL will not work if phone line goes down. DSL service is dependent on the functional connection and quality of copper phone line.

Q25. Can I have the telephone line for DSL connection only; I don’t want to pay the line rent?
PTCL landline phone connection is a prerequisite for DSL service. Line rent is charged on every landline phone connection.

Q26. What if I discontinue the DSL service?
The service will be discontinued upon your request by calling at 0800-80800. You will need to clear any outstanding dues and the modem needs to be returned to PTCL (conditions apply).

Q No. 7.  Do I need to buy a wireless card for my PC?
PTCL provides a WiFi enabled USB dongle / Stick along with a WiFi modem in case the customer does not have a WiFi enabled card / device with his PC or Laptop.

Q No. 8.  What is the Signal Strength and range of a WiFi Modem?
WiFi modem offers strong signals with in a house. WiFi modem can be placed anywhere in the premises to access high speed fixed line broadband any where in the house.

Q No. 9. Does a WiFi modem drop signals while using both Smart TV and Broadband at the same time?
There is no effect on the signal strength and you will receive full bandwidth for connectivity on both Smart TV and Broadband.

Q No.10.  Does PTCL provide network security for Broadband WiFi Service?
Yes, PTCL offers network security for Broadband WiFi service. Our customer premises installer will install and password restrict the wireless network connection at the customer’s premises to avoid any possibility of misuse. The password can later be reset / changed by the customer himself.

Q No.11   Is the WiFi network affected by weather
Since WiFi is an indoor limited range signal transferring technology therefore weather change has no effect on the performance of Broadband WiFi service.

Q2. What card do I need to recharge by account?
You can recharge your account by using PTCL Vfone scratch card, available in denominations of 100,300, 500 &1000.

Q3. How do I recharge my Evo Prepay Account?
To recharge your account simply open the “soft phone” from your Evo Software and dial 1015. Press 1 after language selection to recharge your account. Enter your 13 digit Vfone recharge voucher number. To recharge more balance, please repeat the process.

Q4. When is my account balance deducted?
Your account balance is deducted the first time you connect to the internet. The validity of your account is automatically extended as per your subscribed package.

Q5. How do I check my account balance?
To check your account balance, simply open the “soft phone” from your Evo Software and dial 1015. Press 2 after language selection to check the remaining
balance in your account.
(Please note that as per our system working, the first time you connect to the internet, your balance would drop down to Re.1 but this would have no effect
on your browsing ability)

Q7. How can I change my Evo Prepay Package?
To switch a package, postpaid customers can contact any of your nearest OSS/CSC. Package switch would take place within 24 hrs.
Prepaid customers, can however have their package switched by sending an email to evo.support@ptcl.net.pk or calling our Toll Free helpline 1218 or 1236. Your package  will be switched within 24hours.

Q8. Can I change from Postpay Packages to any Evo Prepay Package and vice versa?
Yes; you can switch your package anytime you wish to change. To make a package change, please visit any of your nearest OSS/CSC with a paid telephone bill

Q9. What if I switch to a postpaid package, when I still have balance valid in my Prepay account?
If you switch to a postpaid package with unutilized balance in your prepaid account, the unutilized balance would not be carried forward and billing for the package would be done separately as per the package requirements.

Q10. What if I have unutilized balance in my Prepaid account and I want to switch to another prepaid Package?
In Case of any package switches, the unutilized balance is washed out. You’ll have to load a new card as per the package requirements; to get connected.

Q1. What is the validity of Evo DayPass Package?
Evo DayPass package is valid for 24 hours with unlimited data downloads. The validity starts from the first time you connect to the internet. You will be charged Rs.100/day only for the days you use your Evo connection.

Q2. In Daypass package, is Rs.500 card valid for 5 consecutive days or subscriber can select any days of the month?
The biggest advantage of this package is that the subscriber pays only for the days they use the service and the unused balance remains in their account till the validity of the card loaded.

Q3. What is the validity of Evo Lite Package?
Evo Lite package is valid for 30 days. You must use your 50 free hours in 30 days as they will not be rolled over to the next month.

Q4. What will be the charges in Evo Lite Package after the first 50 hours?
You will be charged Rs.21/hour after the first 50 hours of usage.

Q5. What is the validity of Evo Max Package?
Evo Max package is valid for 30 days. The validity starts from the first time you connect to the internet. There is no data volume download limit within these 30 days.

Q6. When will my Package Activation Charges be deducted?
Your package activation charges will be deducted the first time you connect to the internet after selecting your desired package. You must have enough balance in your account to start using your desired package at the time you connect.

Q7. What is the billing cycle in prepay packages?
Subscribers get the full validity of 30 days (starting from the first connection) for EVO Max and EVO Lite package irrespective of the calendar dates. This gives subscriber complete freedom to enjoy prepay in true spirit.

Q8. If I am out of balance, will I be charged for the time period I am not using the EVO Service?
Once the package expires (24 hours for Day Pass, 30 days for EVO Max and EVO Lite), there is no deduction for the time period that you are out of balance and not using the EVO services. You can reactivate the service anytime by recharging your account.
